The Time Traveler's Wife Movie

*gasp*

I just saw the trailer for the movie, coming out on August 14th. I absolutely adored this book and can not wait - check it out:



Here's take two of what this book did to me:

I am sitting at the kitchen table trying desperately to finish "The Time Traveler's Wife" before book club tonight. Work is on hold after a couple of hours, and the Wii is babysitting my monsters for the moment.

Dry, shaken sobs start to rack through me as I near the end of the book. I know what's going to happen. It even tells you it's going to happen. But as the words in front of me take shape in my mind, in my heart...

I can't help but feel like I KNOW these people. They're not characters in a book anymore, they're people you've gotten to know in the last 500 pages. I've been talking to them silently in my head as I've been catching up with them, laughing out loud, causing hubby to take a curious peek at me.

Silly, silly girl. It's just a book. What are you crying for? I laugh at myself, at the sight of me. At the idea of it. I need to break up these emotions, take the edge off... and stuff my face with fries to keep my tears at bay.

Now I really AM a sight to see.

I imagine one of my sons hopping in to the kitchen, ready for lunch... stopping in his tracks and apprehensively coming to my side to ask, "Why are you crying, Mom?"

Because of a book?

"Because your Mom is a dork. That's all."

(sigh) But I ain't ashamed. ;)

Michael Trevino on The Mentalist

Do you guys watch The Mentalist? I friggin' LOVE that show - Patrick Jane cracks me up. Not to mention, Simon Baker is pretty easy on the eyes.

I've told Hubz I'd go for Simon any day ;)

Thank gawd for Billy Burke and Simon Baker, coz I can't keep oogling my fantasy boy toys, can I? But catching up on my DVR last night, that damned Michael Trevino just had to go and make a guest appearance on The Mentalist, didn't he?

Twilight Interview - Raw Footage

I don't get a chance to peruse cyber space very much for footage on our favorite vampires, so lucky for me that Twilight_4000 sent me this video.

Billy Burke with the Power of Attorney

There's only so many shows I can keep up with. One of them is "The Closer."

Imagine my surprise to find out our own Billy Burke showed up on the show as a smooth-talking lawyer named Philip Stroh.

Hubz saw his name come up as the show started. "Hey - isn't that your boyfriend?"

It cracks me up that even though he's never read the book, never watched the movie - he can still recognize the names of my favorite Twilight celebs.

Of course, it probably doesn't help that I have all of their photos perched up on the fireplace mantle in my office. ;)

Twilight in Photos and The Hillywood Show

Did I mention that I also took photos with Mike Welch? And Jerad, Lead Guitarist for Jackson's band 100 Monkeys?

It has taken me all week to try and come down from my high from last week. I've been trying not to look at the pics or watch the videos coz if I do... it starts all over again!

One thing I can't help - is this video they showed at the con. I'm not usually a fan of parodies - but this one is helluva cute. They stayed in character ALL weekend - and at the Vampire Ball, even taught everyone the dance from the video. It was awesome. I got lucky and got a pic with the cast, too!

How did Hubz respond to my Twilight pics?

In all honesty, the poses were his idea.

Have you seen my photos with the men of Twilight??? Or caught up on what it was like when I met Kellan Lutz (AKA Emmett Cullen)?

I had a couple months to think about it. What was I going to say? How was I going to pose? I didn't want my pics to look like everyone else's... but how was I going to pull that off?

I thought of a fun, crazy pose and when I mentioned it to Hubz, he was all, "Well, that's alright. But...."

"But what?" I asked.

[Pause.]

"But it LOOKS like a pose... You should do something that looks more... natural." he explained.

Oh.

"You mean, like a boyfriend/girlfriend snapshot?"

"Yeah - something like that. You'd like that better."

Of course, when the pics came in... I guess we weren't expecting them to look so... intimate? Is that the word I'm looking for?

I'd sent the pics to him via MMS on our cell phones, so he had a day to... process. Get over that initial shock of jealousy.

Mind you, I'm a WAHM for our Regional Office and have been for over 8 years, 13 years total in the hotel industry. I don't get out very much. And I sure as hell don't get to hook up with people looking as fine as these guys are.

But after he got over the shock, we were able to talk about it. I told him everything. Every moment I shared with the celebrities, all the new friends I made, who I had drinks with, what time I went to bed.

I showed him exactly what happened when I met each of the celebrities, replaying for him what I said, what they said, what I did, what they did. The whispers, the looks...

The intense eye contact between Jackson and me as we held hands after our photo op.

And when I squeezed Kellan just above the hips. *swoon*

I think that's my favorite part of the human body - lol.

But as fun as it was over in La-La Land, coming back home and regaling all of my events to Hubz reminds me...

How much he must love me... and how much I love him. Not many men would be able to deal with those pics, and remember...

That HE'S the one I want to grow old with. Like I said on FB, I think I'm falling in love with my Hubz all over again....

Freaking Out

Okay. Maybe just a little bit. But going in, I already knew a contest would be a lot of work.

Crikey. I just didn't realize how much. And those of you who have been with me since before the contest, already know that I'm not a gal who posts every day. It's kinda freakin' me out.

Barely Hanging On

OMG - I'm dyin' over here.

lol - I shouldn't complain. Not after a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the Super Bowl. It was completely last minute, and totally conflicted with the kickoff of the Everglow Party.

Trying to catch up. Trying. And I still gotta fill you guys in on what it was like at the big game.

I will get there. Soon. But it's 9:35pm PST and I've been up since 1:45am PST. To catch a flight home. And now.... I am barely hanging on. But I will get there!

A Thousand Splendid Suns

It really is splendid. Indeed it is.

Okay - seriously. I just finished listening to this audio book - and while it has a really good story line and all...

The book drags!

And please - sorrow after sorrow after sorrow... There is only so much I can deal with, give me a little bit of hope, some kind of light, in between. Did my heart ache? Yes. Could I imagine myself living as those women had to? No, never. Did it make me feel selfish? Completely.

After we read "The Kite Runner" last year, we wondered how Khaled Hosseini would be able to top it. But the book club girls and I had heard that some people liked "A Thousand Splendid Suns" even better than "The Kite Runner!"

Not me. No Laila jo, I'm sorry. Not me.

I don't regret reading it - it's not a bad book at all. It just didn't meet my expectations, unfair expectations, nonetheless - comparing it to Kite Runner and all....

But now that I've finally finished it, I think I'm going to step away from novels for a bit so I can dive into a world with Anita Blake... Now THERE'S a page-turner!!

Casting Jane in New Moon

I just heard that Dakota Fanning is in negotiations for the part of Jane in New Moon.

No auditions, nothing. Just outright offered it to her!

I, for one, would be ecstatic to see Dakota as Jane - she is one serious actor, and puts soooo much into all of her work. Plus, I think it'd be neat to see her in the dark role of the "witch twin..."

What do you think? Any other ideas on who could play Jane?

Just 5 more minutes. Please?

I felt the cool air breeze up against me and let the rays of this rare sunshine spray my face.

I'm normally indoors all the time. ALL the time. I can hardly get myself to walk around the block to pick up my mail.

But today... I had the peace of quiet on my side. The boys were in school. All of them - and now that I'd gotten over the first day of pre-school for my youngest lil' monster, I was thinking I might actually enjoy this new found freedom of mine.

I needed a minute to myself... more, actually. The week has been kinda rough on me, and Hubz and I still haven't patched out our last... conflict, from a few days ago.

I hate it when we have tension between us.

Sitting down at the patio table, I tried to escape into a book for a little while... but I could hear my office phone ringing, and the knowledge that I'd be on a conference call in 15 minutes kept me from reading more than the second chapter of Guilty Pleasures.

I took a breath and stood up, grounding out my cigarette on the rocks (surely no one would notice that) before going to the garage to fetch the ashtray. I need to get it together... wasn't it 10 years ago when I quit smoking?

My five minutes wasn't nearly enough, but life calls. Maybe I can sneak in another break for myself before the first round of playing taxi driver...

Who's Ready for More Vamps?

As if I don't already have enough vamps in my life with the Cullen Men. ;)

Hooked up with some friends Saturday and had an Underworld movie night - watched both Underworld and The Evolution. Rise of the Lycans will be out January 23rd!

So... can someone tell me why Selene's eyes are sometimes dark, and sometimes ice blue?! Noticed it was usually during a fight - but it never really explains it...

Now if there's ever someone coooool that I'd love to be - it'd have to be Selene. That girl just kicks. Ass. :D (Alice Cullen ~ I still love ya!)

Looking for Blog Contest Tips

Did I mention that my birthday's coming up next month?

Which I would LOVE to celebrate with a contest!! But WOW - talk about overwhelming! I've soon so many great contests, with tons of sponsors and organized drawings... what's your secret?

Pinay Jade and Toni have already given me a head start with some tips - thank you ladies!! But if anyone else has any other tips to share - I'd love to hear from you. Specifically, I'm wondering:

• What are the best ways to find sponsors and where?
• What's the best way to organize all the entries?
• What's the best way to advertise the contest?

I'm planning on hosting the contest at my main blog, MammaDawg.com - and to get it kicked off sooner than later. That brings up another question... what's a good length of time to run a contest? A week or two, a month?

Moving from the Crib

How 'bout a new change to go with the new year?

I've decided to move my sistah blog here to On the Rocks... and will be closing up the Crib shortly. Why, you ask?

Oh, drama.

lol - and you know how I am with drama... I just slowly inch myself away from it. Goodness, I have enough going on that I don't need any more. Besides - it's SO much easier keeping everything under one account instead of having different logins. That's another thing of mine - I like to keep it as simple as possible. :)
